Case study / CM Labs
Clear interfaces.
Complex training.
UX research, interface design and interactive prototyping for heavy-equipment simulation training.

The challenge
Help users focus
on the task at hand.
The original interfaces combined compact controls, equipment grids and dense lists. The redesign gave platform access, equipment selection, session information and performance review a clearer visual focus.
Martin-John Challita completed this work during his role at CM Labs.
Understand the journey
before redesigning it.
A platform audit identified dead ends and inefficient paths. Journey mapping, interaction analysis and heat maps helped establish priorities for the redesign.

Explore. Test.
Refine.
Low-fidelity wireframes established page structure and flows. Stakeholder feedback and usability testing informed iterations, followed by high-fidelity prototypes reviewed with end users.

A consistent system
for complex interfaces.
Shared patterns for color, typography, iconography, controls and interface states created a coherent visual language across the platform.

Beyond the simulator.
Into training management.
The work also covered admin and instructor dashboards, student profiles, equipment learning paths and reporting to connect the training experience with progress review.
